- Imperial News Grid - A New Regime
It had been a long time since Channel One had been activated. The long-dormant channel suddenly became active. Many had been expecting something like this to occur, but the timing they did not know. All communication frequencies became active galaxy-wide. It was known only to be activated from a single planet, Coruscant. The usual stand-by message was playing. Soon the familiar symbols of the Galactic Government and the Royal Imperial Throne began to display in ceremonial fashion, with the anthem of the Imperial Republic playing. "And now, we go live to Coruscant, to the Throneroom of the Royal Palace, to hear from our Supreme Ruler, His Majesty the High Prince James Stratus."
The Throneroom came into view, flags dangling from the ceiling along the wall of the Imperial Republic insignia. To the right of the High Prince were Executor Treyson and Lady Devin, and to the left Supreme Chancellor Quick and Grand Admiral OVERMIND.
"People of the Imperial Republic, and especially of the Armed Forces. I come before you to announce a change in regime and structure of the Armed Forces of the Imperial Republic. For some time the High Council, Military High Command, and the Throne has been in deep discussion as to how to handle the changes rapidly facing us in military staffing and operations. Many options were discussed and considered. After much discussion, the High Council in cooperation with Military Leadership felt that the merging of two branches, Army and Navy, would be the best option. After considering all options, and taking into account all recommendations and opinions, the decision became a difficult one for me. I have, however, decided to officially merge the two branches, the Army and Navy of the Imperial Republic, into one combined branch of the armed forces. The Military Police and Military Intelligence Departments, as well as the Army Reserve shall remain seperate departments underneath the Ministry of Defense. This merger and official changes shall become effective on the 1st of the following month. A change in rank structure will be released by the Ministry of Defense following this broadcast, and all personnel will recieve rank adjustments as determined by Military High Command."
The High Prince in his might and majesty continued on. "With these final changes, many of which were orchestrated by Field Marshall Cognatus himself, am pleased to inform you that Command Marshall Cognatus has accepted appointment to the position of Commandant of the Armed Forces, sometimes referred to as Military Commander or MCO underneath the Minister of Defense. We are greatful to have his services, who we esteem as a hero and combat veteran of the Imperial Republic, a leader of soldiers, honored for his dedicated service and loyalty to the Throne and the Imperial Republic. He contributed much to the miliary, as well as to the High Council of the Imperial Republic. He was responsible for many victories in combat as well as in more peaceful negotiations and other crises. I am pleased that we were able to talk him out of retirement." There was a chuckle heard in the background as a smile crept across the Prince's face.
"With these changes I would like to mention a rising star of the Imperial Republic Military, and protege of Command Marshall Cognatus. I present to you Group Captain Jared Quinn, Former Commander of Army Special Forces, who has also served both in the positions of Interim Executive Officer and Acting Commanding Officer of the Army. While still fairly new to command, he has proven himself time and time again. In a ceremony previous to this broadcast, I appointed Group Captain Quinn to Chief of Combat Operations of the Imperial Republic Military. This position shall serve as a supportive command position to the Minister of Defense, Commandant and Executive Officer of the Armed Forces, and shall assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of military combat operations. We are greatful for his leadership and for all that he brings to the military. We look forward to workign with him in his new position." The screen panned over to the left of Admiral OVERMIND, stood Group Captain Quinn in ceremonial uniform.
"I expect the cooperation of all personnel in the armed forces and in the civilian governments involved with the armed forces to assist and do their part in the process of the merging of branches. I was recently informed by the Imperial Republic Security Bureau via the Director's Office that Brigadier General Bryan Dugaan has been granted retirement and honorably discharged from the service of the Security Bureau. The Director stated that this was due to a conflict of interest with General Dugaan also holding the office of High Minister of COMPNOR. The Director of the IRSB commented on the many years of dedicated service General Dugaan devoted to the Bureau.
As His Majesty's Chief of Staff, I brought this to His Majesty's attention in which immediately His Majesty requested former IRSB-Brig. Gen. Dugaan to appear before him. I was present and witnessed His Majesty bestow a title of honor and nobility upon Mr. Dugaan in which the High Prince conferred upon him the title of Praetor.
His Majesty explained that this title is reserved for Agents of the Throne beneath the Executor and other Throne members, who have the authority to act in whatever capacity in which they are appointed by the Throne. As High Minister of COMPNOR, Praetor Dugaan will continue to serve in that capacity as essentially the second in command of COMPNOR, the government's primary political, executive and administrative support branch, though as Praetor will have some additional special powers as well.

We are pleased to announce the following appointments and promotions effective immediately.
Admiral John Kelly is appointed to the position of Director, Imperial Republic Intelligence Service. In this role Admiral Kelly will provide executive leadership to the Imperial Republic Intelligence Service as a whole, as well as heading the Directorate of Operations. The Deputy Director and the Underdirector of Operations will report directly to Admiral Kelly. Director Kelly will report directly to Supreme Chancellor Quick, and will additionally indirectly report to Lady Vadcasta. Director Kelly will also serve on the High Council.
Kyliann Watson is appointed to the position of Deputy Director, Imperial Republic Intelligence Service. In this role Kyliann will once again manage the daily operations of the Imperial Republic Intelligence Service. In addition, she will have the added responsibilities of heading the Directorate of Analysis. The Underdirector of Analysis as well as the other Underdirectors of the Imperial Republic Intelligence Service (excluding the Underdirector of Operations) will report directly to Deputy Director Watson.
Dr. Angela Ingraham, Ph.D; President - Valorumian Institute (NPC) is promoted to the position of Senior Minister of COMPNOR for Education & Heritage and Valorumian Institute President. In this role Dr. Ingraham will continue to oversee the Valorumian Institute, the Imperial Republic's Educational & Research Institute, as well as now oversee: the Imperial Republic Library and Archives; the Ministry of Education; the Royal Society of Arts; the Royal Society of Writing; and the COMPNOR Foundation.

On holovisions across the galaxy...
The galaxy news comes on. The reporters go through their usual news segments as always. Finally, it's Stacy Stratford's turn to report on the goings-on of the House Stratus and the people they're closely connected to. Stacy tosses her head, flipping her hair over her shoulders with a big smile.
"Hello, everyone and welcome to the new Celebrity Segment of the Galaxy News," she says.
"First tonight, Diandra Devin has been announced as His Majesty's Chief of Staff. Diandra, who was recently promoted to Office Manager and Director of Public Relations for the House of Stratus, was also bestowed with a title of nobility. She declined to comment on her new promotion and title as well as the rumor that she's dating Lieutenant Colonel Jared Quinn.
"Boys, the way I hear it, Diandra's single as well."
She goes on to report several other goings on with other celebrities and royalty around the galaxy before the news signs off for the evening. - Imperial News Grid - Coronation on Hapes
Today on the planet of Hapes of the Hapes Consortium, the High Prince James Stratus, Supreme Ruler of the Imperial Republic, crowned a new Queen Mother to rule over the Class-B member state. The High Prince and new Queen Mother affirmed the new alliance and treaty between the Consortium and the Imperial Republic and the Queen Mother swore an oath of allegience as part of her oath of office. Many esteemed guests including the former Dowager Empress and Queen Mother of Hapes Layha Solo-Centurion were present.
Also in news today the High Prince promoted Diandra Devin to the position of Office Manager of His Majesty's Personal Staff. She was also recently appointed the Public Relations Director for the House Stratus. - Imperial News Grid - Promotions
The news is dull and boring as usual. Stacy Stratford is on vacation and thus there is another woman in her place on the evening news. She is a pretty woman, with dark hair and bright blue eyes. She also seems to be at least half Zeltron, judging by the almost hot pink pigmentation in her skin.
She smiles sweetly at the camera as it zooms in on her. She shuffles a few papers, looks down for a moment, and then begins to read.
"Well, there's not much to report tonight," she says truthfully.
"Most of you will remember the battle that occurred on Rishi a few months ago when the army went to investigate an emergency distress signal. Both General Cognatus and 1st Lieutenant Jared Quinn were there and were the first on the ground.
"The High Prince held a ceremony to honor them just hours ago. General Cognatus was promoted to Command General for his bravery, heroism, and undying loyalty to the throne.
"1st Lieutenant Quinn, for his bravery and heroism on the battle field was awarded the Republic Silver Star. He was also promoted to Major.
"By the way, ladies, as I understand it, both men are very single and very available."
She grins at the camera in a flirtatious way, shuffles her papers again, and continues.
"In other news, Grand Admiral Overmind is on a long vacation. As such, Command General Cognatus is the acting Minister of Defense until Grand Admiral Overmind's return.

BREAKING NEWS flashes a crossed the HoloNet and fades to show Kayla Katorain for the Galactic News Network. "Good evening we have just received an update on the riots taking place at the Kuat Drive Yards. Our correspondent Zefel is at the scene and has more on the story."
The camera switches to the Kuat Drive Yards where Zefel a gray skinned humanoid with glowing blue eyes takes over. "Thank you Kayla, I'm here with one of the workers now. He name is Kay'lor Keltar and he tells me he is the union leader for Kuat Drive Yards. So Kay'lor what can you tell me of the current situation?" The camera panes over to Kay'lor a tall muscular human about 6ft high wearing dark blue coveralls and cap, that gave him an aura of authority. "Well Zefel it's like this we walked into work today and 150 of us were fired and the rest of us were told that we should expect a decrease of ΒΌ our regular pay. As you can imagine it has not gone over to well. That's why we went on strike; unfortunately some of the boys have gotten a little out of hand." In the background you see workers holding signs and hear them shouting protests. Then a fight breaks out between an officer and some of the workers. The reporter yelp in surprise as the Union leader gets knocked into the camera and the feed goes dead.
The camera view returns to a concerned looking Kayla who recovers enough to wrap up the report. "There you have it the situation is quite serious and we hope it can be settled soon. The Screen on the HoloNet flashes BREAKING NEW and switches to a human female reporter with long blond hair and green-gray eyes. "Good Evening this just in a riot has broken out over a labor dispute at two of the major Ship building yards. They are the Kuat Drive Yards and the Corellian Engineering Corporation. The apparent cause of the disputes is unclear at this time but we will keep you apprised of any new information as we get it. So far there has been only 50 injured as a result of the rioting and Security Forces are hard pressed to keep the situation under control. On behalf of the High Prince, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Josefus Alastar Quick, a long-time career veteran of the Ministry of State and former Supreme Chancellor, to the position of Supreme Chancellor and Minister of State of the Imperial Republic. In this reappearance role, Supreme Chancellor Quick will be responsible for the administration of the Senate, as well as directing the foreign policy positions and initiatives of the Ministry of State. We want to wish a warm welcome back to the Supreme Chancellor.

The evening news is once again being turned on on holovisions across the galaxy. The ever-cheerful Stacy Stratford and her less-than-cheerful colleague are present, though the two are rarely seen without the other. Some even consider them to be joined at the hip. The bubbly blond smiles at the camera and her colleague scowls.
They go through the motions of reporting several happenings on other planets. Most of it is boring or downright cringe-worthy. Earthquakes here, drug busts there; like every other news channel, the evening news liked to report on things often considered as sensations. They save the best for last, however.
"We have it on good authority," Stacy says, grinning at the camera. "That the High Prince and the Executor will be on Hapes today for a royal coronation. The Prince will choose the next Queen Mother for Hapes."
Her colleague pulls a sour face for a moment before he attempts to smile. "We here at the station have heard that he will appoint one Phoenix Katarn-Solo to the throne."
Stacy nods, "Indeed, Perceval. She is, from our understanding quite young. We wish her best of luck."
